The Chronology of American Literature: 1985

Are you tired of click-bait challenges? Have you read or want to read some well-crafted American fiction and non-fiction?
This is a list of novels, short story collections, drama, poetry, literary criticism & non-fiction by American authors published in 1985. The source is "The Chronology of American Literature: America's Literary Achievements from the Colonial Era to Modern Times" by Daniel S. Burt (2004).
(This actually is a brief test run to see which categories of literature are sufficiently well-patronised to justify creating similar challenges covering the 20th century & possibly earlier. Each challenge would cover 5 or 10 years.)

The categories are:
Fiction: 1-32
Drama and Theatre: 33-39
Poetry: 40-44
Literary Criticism and Scholarship: 45-47
Nonfiction: 48-56
