U.S. Route 1 is the longest north-south highway in the United States, running for 2,369 miles through 15 states (including Washington, D.C.) from Key West, Florida to Fort Kent, Maine at the Canadian border, roughly paralleling Interstate 95 and the Atlantic Ocean for much of its length.
