20th Century Modern: Some of the English Teacher's Favorite Fiction and Drama - Page 4

Our maverick English Teacher and contrarian lists 150 novels, short story collections, and plays from the modern and post-modern maelstrom that was the 20th century. He himself was born at mid century in 1951, and has used what he knew, what he saw, and what he was taught to compile a personal list that reflects the literary/theatrical tone of those times. The list is hardly exhaustive or definitive; he stopped at 150 because he felt that if he didn't, he might never stop. Hardest choices- whether to include bestsellers "Gone with the Wind", "Peyton Place", "The Exorcist", or "Jaws". He decided not to include any of them.
