On one side, I plead guilty of Shundoku, the Japanese word for buying books and not reading them.
On the other side, Umberto Eco - the man himself - explained that having in your home only the book you are currently reading is like keeping in the pantry only the ingredients for your next meal. Efficient but arid. Argument to be found on Youtube.
I, for myself, think that our unread books describe the person we aspire to be, and I think that this is a beautiful thing - and Eco's main point.
Except for Faletti's novels, that's the person I wish I were not.
Here you'll find a lot of Joyce and Ireland (my present), politics, some Japan and Early Years pedagogy (my many pasts), and some poetry, philosophy and nature (my future?).
The classics and various attempts at different languages are my Northern Star, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
