Girl's Guide to Good Movies: 1949

This series is based on A Girl's Guide to Good Movies (https://www.listchallenges.com/girls-guide-to-good-movies). I picked 40 movies per year that portray women in an interesting light. Unfortunately, in some years women are just props without thought or motivation (the 1970's were especially unkind). And yet there's always the heyday of Hollywood when the biggest box office stars were female. Katherine Hepburn, Ginger Rogers, Olivia DeHavilland, Loretta Young, Lucille Ball and Shelley Winters... thank you for existing in all your complex glory.
