100 Best Science Fiction Films

Scott Andrew Hutchins has a master's degree in cinema and media studies and a bachelor's degree in English and communication with a film concentration. I put so many critics' best science fiction film lists that I decided to throw my hat in and cast my net more broadly wth a top 100. I also didn't limit myself to pre-1995 (when the others were published) although my top ten are all from that period. I haven't seen everything on their lists and find Ridley Scott and CE3K overrated. My methodology was to go to my IMDb ratings and include all my 10s and 9s in the genre, remove anything that wasn't really SF (e.g. Loncraine's Richard III), reorder and whittle down to 100 (there are 101 because I put my own short film, which isn't even finished, in a "propaganda" spot as Ebert would call it in such lists--it doesn't count). My taste is more for art film and SF films that are more like SF literature, and I watched more Eastern SF as a kid than '50s paranoia Americana.
