The Bibliophile's Best Books of Each Genre: Satire

My third last list of this series (which is probably good, given my recent list user numbers!) is devoted to one of my favourite genres - satire. From the darkly humorous satire of Voltaire, Palahniuk, Vonnegut and Swift, to the bleak, twisted and genuinely frightening satire of Orwell, Huxley, Bradbury and Atwood; the method may be different, but they have a common motive - to make a point that is critical to or about the human condition. It's no wonder that so many satirical novels are considered amongst the greatest novels ever written. This is a list to savour and to make sure you read in your lifetime.
