The Bibliophile's Best Books of Each Genre: Westerns

Here is the list of the best western novels of all time. Just as western movies grew on me and I came to love them, the same has happened, relatively recently, with novels. I'd read My Antonia a while ago, but when I read Blood Meridian a few years ago, it blew me away. What an amazing novel! Such beauty and peace on the one hand; then the most extreme violence you could ever read on the other, along with that ending. From there, I obviously fell in love with Cormac McCarthy's books, but I also explored other authors and found beauty and solace in sweeping epics such as Lonesome Dove and Angle of Repose. So my journey through western novels will continue, and I hope this list gives you some inspiration of your own.
