The English Teacher Reflects: Great Books About the Outsider and the Alienated

Our Maverick English Teacher looks at works of fiction that in some way focus on the fundamental literary motif of the outsider. He has endeavored to be inclusive, and has listed works from YA, genre, and even pulp fiction as well as from mainstream literature and the classics. He has limited the list to narrative fiction, except for 5 plays he feels are fundamental expressions of being "outside".
